This policy explains whether and which cookies and similar storage technologies Clipnity uses. It applies to the information pages at clipnity.com and to the web app at app.clipnity.com and supplements our Privacy Policy.
Cookies are small text files which a website stores on your terminal equipment and reads out again on subsequent visits. In addition, there are browser-native storage facilities such as localStorage: there, a digital service can place information in the browser without it being automatically transmitted to the server. The same statutory rules apply to both techniques (§ 25 TDDDG (German Digital Services Data Protection Act)).
clipnity.com (information and marketing pages): These pages do not set any cookies themselves and do not place any information on your terminal equipment.
app.clipnity.com (web app): After you log in, the web app stores login information in the localStorage of your browser so that your session persists and you do not have to log in again each time you visit. This storage is strictly necessary for the provision of the app.
We do not use any analytics, advertising, retargeting, profiling or social media tracking cookies and we do not carry out any cross-site tracking.
| Storage object | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Login information in localStorage (app.clipnity.com) | Login and maintenance of the session, protection of the account against unauthorised access | Until you log out or until you delete the website data in your browser; localStorage does not expire automatically | Clipnity (first party) |
user-id (cookie, app.clipnity.com) |
Assignment of the session to your user account | 12 months | Clipnity (first party) |
first_time (cookie, app.clipnity.com) |
Indicates whether the application is being opened on this device for the first time; controls the initial display | 12 months | Clipnity (first party) |
new-user (cookie, app.clipnity.com) |
Indicates a newly created account; controls the onboarding flow | 30 days | Clipnity (first party) |
onboarding-postponed (cookie, app.clipnity.com) |
Stores the fact that you have postponed the onboarding flow so that it does not appear again | 30 days | Clipnity (first party) |
No cookies are set on clipnity.com. The information pages function entirely without any storage on your terminal equipment. The storage objects listed above relate exclusively to the web app at app.clipnity.com and are only set after you have logged in.
No third-party cookies are set and no cookies are used for analytics, advertising or profiling purposes.
The storage of information on your terminal equipment and access to information already stored there are in principle only permissible with your consent (§ 25 Abs. 1 TDDDG). Consent is not required where the storage or access is strictly necessary in order for the provider of a digital service to provide a digital service expressly requested by the user (§ 25 Abs. 2 Nr. 2 TDDDG).
The localStorage entry and the user-id cookie fall under this exception: without them, a persistent login and the assignment of the session to your account are not possible.
The cookies first_time, new-user and onboarding-postponed store exclusively the progress of the onboarding flow within the application you have called up. They contain no personal content, only a yes/no value, are not used for recognition across websites and not for analytics or advertising purposes. We base them on § 25 Abs. 2 Nr. 2 TDDDG, because they serve the provision of the service expressly requested by you. A consent banner is therefore not required.
Insofar as personal data is processed in this context, the processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and functional operation of the service).
You may delete all of the aforementioned storage objects at any time via your browser (Section 6).
When our pages are loaded, no content is retrieved from third-party servers; fonts, graphics and scripts are delivered from our own infrastructure. A mere visit therefore does not transmit any data to third-party providers.
Our pages contain links to external offerings, for example to the App Store (Apple) and to Google Play. Only once you follow such a link do you leave our offering; from that point onwards, the privacy notices of the respective provider apply.
You can view and delete stored cookies and website data (including localStorage) at any time via the settings of your browser (usually under “Settings”, “Privacy” or “Security”). If you delete the website data of app.clipnity.com, you will be logged out. If your browser blocks storage entirely, logging in to the web app is not possible.
Should we in future use cookies or storage technologies which are not strictly necessary, we will update this policy and obtain your consent beforehand. The version published on this website applies.
